NZW RECEIVES ORGANIC SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AWARD OF $97,000
The adjudication committee of the Organic Sector Development Program of British Columbia (OSDPBC) has recently announced support for our initiative. We have recently finalized an agreement for a $97,000 grant from the OSDP which will be used during the first year of operations to help with start-up costs associated with demonstration of this project. We intend to demonstrate the positive impact this project will have on the local organic farming sector, through the nutrient rich soil we manufacture and some growing studies we plan to conduct at a few local “certified organic” farms.
$65,000 GRANT FOR WASTE HEAT ENERGY CAPTURE
Net Zero Waste was recently successful in it’s application to the Investment Agriculture Foundation of British Columbia, Agri-Innovation Program. Our application titled Waste Heat Energy Capture from Compost for use in Agriculture was considered by the Foundation’s Board of Directors on June 18, 2014 and has been approved with support from both the Agricultural Land Commission and the BC Greenhouse Growers Association. The project will utilize waste heat energy to heat greenhouses and potentially to generate power to support agricultural based growth initiatives.
FOOD BANK DONATIONS
NZWA contributes annually to the local Food Bank via the Christmas tree donation program and supports other local community organizations ranging from girl-guides to the University of the Fraser Valley. This year – 2014 NZWA also donated to the “run for a cure” organization and will select a new organization to donate to each year moving forward.
